Arrival Time is from 2.00pm on the first day of your rental.
Departure Time is 11.00am on the last day of your rental.
If you need to change these timings, let us know in advance and we’ll see what we can do for you.
The lodge is thoroughly cleaned between each rental, but because this is our home too and because there is sometimes a very quick changeover period during busy times, we’d really appreciate your help by leaving the lodge as clean and tidy as possible.
With a mind to keeping the cost of renting the lodge as low as possible, we do not provide a maid service. This means that should you be staying more than one week, any changes of bed linen and rubbish disposal will be up to you. A full change of bed linen for both bedrooms is stored in the bedroom dressers at all times, and a washing machine and drying rails are also provided, so any laundry can be done at your discretion.
**Due to the steep bank at the end of the garden, beyond the terrace, we have been advised legally and regret that, for safety reasons, we cannot allow children under the age of Eleven at the lodge. Babes in arms are fine.
We’d like everyone to be able to enjoy the lodge and we don’t want to categorically say ‘No Smoking’, so while the building itself is a ‘non smoking area’ for legal reasons (and being made entirely of wood), we have provided ashtrays so you can sit on the terrace outside and enjoy both the view and a quiet cigarette.
Dogs are welcome but please bear in mind...they are not welcome in the
bedrooms!
**Also, because this is an extremely rural location, neighbouring
fields are home to sheep and other livestock, (and because our neighbours on either side have cats) in the interest
of your dogs’ safety, dogs must be kept on leads and under the control of their owners at all times.
If a dog is found wandering loose or harassing livestock, a farmer or landowner has the right to protect their livestock and their property.
A £75 refundable Security Deposit is payable if bringing dogs to cover any damage, chews or puddles caused.
Because the lodges at Linhay rely on their own well for water and we’re all mindful of not wasting resources or electricity these days, we would ask that you try to make sure that both the washing machine and dishwasher are full before switching them on.
Also, there are movement sensor security lights on three sides of the building, so there is no need to leave any lights on when leaving the lodge.
There are also two bins for recycling on the terrace. One for bottles and one for paper and card. Dorset is renowned for the amount of recycling it does and we'd like to do our bit too.
We would just like everyone to remember and respect the fact, that this is our home too. We don’t expect people to live like monks, but neither do we want them inviting the Pogues round for a free concert.
We naturally expect a small amount of wear and tear, but accidents do happen and we know that, so if a dish gets broken, or something else gets damaged, please just fess up. Tell us, and then we can all try and sort it out as amicably and easily as possible.
We’re deliberately not charging astronomical fees so that people like us, writers, artists etc, will be able to afford a break, but if things start to get damaged and people don’t take responsibility, then our insurance premiums will go up and sadly, the fees will have to go up as well. Either that, or we’ll have to stop offering the lodge for rent - which really would be a shame, considering how many people who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford a break, have loved their time at the lodge.
